Obituary of Angela S. Morris

Angela Salvarlis Morris passed away peacefully on June 17, 2014. Angela was born in New York City on April 6, 1928, graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in 1948, then worked as a dressmaker in the fashion industry. She married Michael Frank Morris of Pittsburgh, PA, in 1961 and moved with him to Pittsburgh, where she worked and studied home economics at Carnegie Mellon University until the birth of their daughter Eleni in 1970. Angela and her family were longtime members of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Pittsburgh, and she gave generously of her time and efforts to many philanthropic organizations, including the Ladies’ Philoptochos at the Diocese of Pittsburgh. After Michael passed away, Angela moved back to the New York area in 2003 to be near their daughter and her family. She is survived by her daughter Eleni Morris Sfiroudis, her son-in-law James Sfiroudis, and grandchildren Sophia, Anthony and Evangelia, all of Port Washington, NY. Friends received onWednesday, June 18, 2014from 2-4 and 6-9 at Fairchild & Sons, 1570 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset NY 11030. Friends received onFriday, June 20, 2014 from 10-11 amat at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 985 Providence Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Funeral Service immediately following at11 am, with burial at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ladies’ Philoptochos Society of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 985 Providence Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
