Obituary of Jane M. Cotter

Jane M Cotter passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Jane was born on June 30, 1949 to John and Virginia (Conley) McHale in Flushing, New York. She was the second oldest of six siblings. Her family moved to Port Washington where she attended St. Peter of Alcantara Elementary School and then St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset, New York. Jane attended Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island where she was a history major. After graduating, she eventually went to work in New York City at Cushman and Wakefield, and became the only female in senior management. She met her husband Gerald in 1976 and raised her family in Manhasset, New York. She loved reading, doing Sudoku and crossword puzzles, watching among other shows the History Channel.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, children Daniel (Stephanie), Michael (James), Kathleen, and Patrick; granddaughters Grace and Isabelle Cotter; brothers Kevin (June), Brian, and Robert (Marguerite) McHale and sister Mary (Michael) Gotimer; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jane is predeceased by her parents, and brother John II (Janet).

Those who knew her loved her friendly demeanor, uncanny humor, and sense of style. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother, caring sister, and aunt. She will be fondly missed by her friends, and lovingly by her family.
