Obituary of Geraldine Day

Our beloved mother Geraldine Day (Gerry) wife to William Day (deceased) passed away peacefully  on March 17, 2024, at the age of 91.  She is survived by  her five children, Thomas Day and his wife Yung, Robert Day and his wife Alice, Timothy Day and his wife Nancy, Patricia Grella and her husband Chris Grella, and James Day and his wife Diane and  14 grandchildren: Bill, Jimmy,Bryan, Katie, Chris, Patrick, Kelly, John, Sean, Jack, Steven, Peter, Connor and Chandler and 14 great grandchildren. 

Gerry  was a lifelong resident of Port Washington born on November 26, 1932. She was a registered nurse at St Francis Hospital for more then 30 years. She was active in her community donating her time to St Peter's church, the Columbiettes, Cancer Care, and volunteering at St Francis Hospital after retiring. 

The true joy in her life was her children, and in years became her grandchildren.  She loved any events that they were involved in, especially sporting events. She quickly became all the grandchildren's friends, beloved grandmother. Her most recent title as a great grandmother became her most treasured role, she enjoyed her time with them and looked forward to seeing them. They made her laugh and smile, they brought joy to her life.

 Visitation will be Wenesday March 20, 2024 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Fairchild Sons Funeral Chapel. 

Funeral Service will be Thursday, 9:30am at St. Peter's Alcantara in Port Washington with interment to follow at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her memory to The American Heart Association.
