Obituary of Amy Sambaziotis

Please share a memory of Amy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Amy Sambaziotis, born on April 7, 1942 in Mytilini, Greece passed away on Friday January 26, 2024 with family by her side.

Amy, the daughter of Christos and Despina Patestos was born in Mytilene, Greece on April 7, 1942. She was beautiful, smart, and very talented. She had the voice of an Angel and was always the star of the show. After High School, Amy relocated to Brooklyn, New York where she met the love of her life Peter. On their first date, he whisked her away to Bear Mountain, six months later they were married. Amy and Peter raised their two children Hera and Chris in the very house they first met in before moving to Smithtown, LI.

Living across the street from Three Hierarchs Church, Amy’s door was always open for a Greek coffee and a lot of laughter.

A loving and supportive mother, Amy encouraged both Hera and Chris to follow their dreams. She empowered them to fulfill their potential and become the successful professionals they are today. She found joy in seeing her children marry their own loving partners, Sam and Michelle. Her joy only grew as they had their own families bringing her the beautiful grandchildren she doted on- Emilia, Brigida, Sebastian, and Emmy. Her grandchildren were her life.

Despite Amy’s petite stature, she was a force to be reckoned with. She was truly one of a kind. She was full of love and affection, making everyone feel so special every time they spoke to her. Amy was genuinely loved by all.

Although she will be greatly missed, we know that she is smiling, laughing and watching over us with her loving parents by her side.
