Obituary of Josephine Arkwright

Please share a memory of Josephine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Josephine Louise Arkwright of Manhasset, New York died at home on October 7,2023 at the age of 87. She was the daughter of Michael and Frances Reda and was raised in Brooklyn, New York, along with her brothers Anthony, who predeceased her, and Frank. Josephine was a loving wife to Richard for 62 years. She was a dedicated mother to Jan and Jill; an extraordinary grandmother to Jason, Justine, Tess, and George; and a caring mother-in-law to her favorite sons-in-law Joseph Cuomo and Bill Harvey. She was a loving sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to many who considered her family and whose children fondly called her “Aunt Jo.”

Josephine was a devout Catholic who lived the gospel every day and taught those around her by the example of her life. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved. She helped and fed anyone that she could. She loved to laugh, cook, sing, and dance. Despite numerous health setbacks in her final three years, she never complained and always trusted in God. She will be deeply missed by many.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday October 11, 2023 at Fairchild Sons Funeral Chapel (1570 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, New York, 11030). A funeral mass will be offered at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday October 12, 2023, at the Church of St. Mary (1300 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, New York, 11030). Burial to follow at Green-wood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Congregation of the Infant Jesus, Nursing Sisters of the Sick Poor Charitable Trust. (984 North Village Avenue Rockville Centre, New York 11570 or call 516-823-3807)

The family would like to thank the dedicated women who cared for Josephine during her final years.
