Lucia Patricia Yakacki

Passed away in her home on September 18, 2023. Born March 25, 1932 to Pasquale and Maria (Nofi) Caramanica, Lucy was a life-long Port Washington resident. She was the deputy clerk for the Village of Flower Hill for over twenty-five years. Enjoyed bowling and Cancer Care trips to Atlantic City. She was also a dedicated fan of the Soundview Softball team, never missing a game.

In her retirement years she became a traveler visiting Hawaii, Alaska, and Portugal, and taking multiple cruises with her loving husband John and her brothers and sisters. Her greatest joy, though, came from her family where she was a true matriarch, showing endless love to her children, then her grandchildren, and finally, to her great grandchildren. It was here where she demonstrated her great cooking and baking skills, preparing meals that brought our family together. She always had a smile for everyone she met, but her deepest smiles came whenever her loved ones were around her.

She was a loving mother to John Yakacki (Robin), Margery Ouellette, Valerie Urcan (John – deceased), and Patricia Karlic (Sam). Adored grandmother of 10 and cherished great-grandmother of 15. Lucy is also survived by her caring brother Alex, and predeceased by her beloved husband, John; brother John (Kay); sisters Marian, Rita (Pete), Carmela (Herlin), and Theresa (Joe). Visitation is from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 -9:00 on Sunday, 9/24. The Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 at St. Peter of Alcantara Church, Port Washington. Interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
