Obituary of Robert K. Young

Robert (“Bob”) Kenneth Young, age 68, passed away on Tuesday April 25, 2023, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Born in Flushing, New York in 1955, Bob was the youngest child of Ethel and Gilbert Young. Bob grew up in Beechhurst with his parents and older sister Gail Bilodeau. He was a graduate of St. Luke’s Elementary School, Holy Cross High School and attended Queens College and NYU.

Bob had an illustrious career in financial services where he spent his later years at Jefferies, Reuters, and Morgan Stanley. Most recently he provided advisory services to AmeriVet Securities as Executive Director of Fixed Income Sales, where his eminence in the financial markets will be missed.

Bob was an avid animal lover and adored and cared for two family dogs: the beloved and recently deceased Charlie, and energetic Ozzy. Bob had a love for scuba diving (which his son shares), listening to rock music (particularly the Beatles), playing the guitar, as well as driving and working on cars and motorcycles.

Bob is predeceased by both his parents, his late brother Gilbert Young and his sister; and is survived by his former wife Christina Young, and their two children, Kayla, and John (fiancé Madeleine Jodka) Young. Nearly twenty-five years of his life were enjoyed in Plandome, New York with his family. He had recently moved to Southport, North Carolina where he passed. He and Christina were active members of the Manhasset athletics community supporting Kayla in swimming and John in lacrosse and hockey.

A funeral mass service will be held at 10:15am on Thursday May 4th, at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 1300 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, New York, 11030.
