Obituary of Richard Stoller

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Richard J. Stoller, 52, of Port Washington, New York, passed away on April 17, 2023, after a long and courageous battle against brain cancer. Born on May 11, 1970, in Flushing, New York, he is survived by his wife, Adrienne Stoller, and their beloved children, Carolyn and Jason. He is also survived by his loving father, Sheldon Stoller, stepmother Nancy Stoller, and sisters, Laura Stoller and Cindy Stoller. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Miriam Stoller (nee, McGuinness).

Richard graduated from SUNY Oswego in 1992 and embarked on a 30-year career as a Certified Public Accountant specializing in tax advising and financial and business management services for clients in the entertainment industry. He was a prudent and practical accountant for his clients, many of whom worked with him for over 20 years and trusted him implicitly to oversee their business and personal finances. In 2017, after many years as a partner at CohnReznick and Prager Metis (formerly Prager & Fenton), Richard decided to pursue a lifelong wish to form his own accounting practice, a risk taken and a dream realized thanks to the endearing guidance and support of his cousin and mentor Robert Futerman, CPA.

Alongside his professional pursuits, Richard was a dedicated and hopeful fan of the Jets, Mets, and Rangers, a passion he shared deeply with his father and son. He was an avid ice hockey player and participated in sports of all kinds throughout his life, including baseball, softball, football, and rugby. He enjoyed cooking (a relief to his wife), gardening, music of every genre, beach time, and day trips with his kids, including hikes at Sands Point Preserve.

Above all, Richard loved starting and ending his day at home, relaxing on the front porch, listening to his favorite tunes, enjoying coffee and cocktails, and gathering for memorable moments with his family and many good friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
