Obituary of Christie Mucci

Please share a memory of Christie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the news of Christie Mucci’s passing on March 17th, 2023. Christie was born on June 22, 1948 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and was raised in New York State. Christie was a loving sister, aunt, cousin and friend as well as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Christie met her husband, Paul Mucci, when they were just 16. They were happily married for 52 years. They spent the early years of their marriage backpacking through Europe and driving cross country before settling down to raise their family. Christie was a proud member of the Manhasset community for almost 4 decades. She owned a store on Plandome Road for many years, where she loved meeting and befriending everyone in town.

Christie always had a passion for education and spent much of her life teaching. At the age of 50, she went back to CW Post for her Master’s in Education. She then opened a nursery school of her own, Friends Together, in Port Washington NY, which has been in business for 20+ years. It brought her so much fillfulment to teach young children and watch them grow.

Family was everything to Christie and she was crazy about her kids, Mike (and wife Katie Mucci) and Marisa (and husband Jake Ingber). She absolutely adored her 4 beautiful granddaughters, Ella, Maggie, Holly and Lily - nothing made her happier than spending time with them. Christie will be missed beyond words.

Christie always taught her students that “books are treasures,” in lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in her honor to Book Fairies, a Long Island based organization that sources books for under-resourced communities.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 24th at 10:15 a.m. at St. Mary’s in Manhasset.
