Obituary of Benjamin Sikes

Please share a memory of Benjamin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Benjamin Lee Sikes of Port Washington, New York lost his long battle with cancer surrounded by family on February 19, 2023. Ben was the beloved husband of Virginia, loving father of Angela, and devoted brother of Lloyd.

Ben was born on April 11, 1952, at the Chelsea Naval Hospital in Chelsea, Massachusetts to loving parents, Benjamin Napoleon Sikes, and Blanche Elizabeth Sikes (Dluzneski). Ben grew up in Norfolk, Virginia where he attended Sherwood Forest Elementary School, Norview Junior High School, and Lake Taylor High School. Ben received his bachelor’s degree at Virginia Tech and received his Master of Business Administration at Loyola University Chicago. While at Virginia Tech, Ben was a member of the Corps of Cadets. Prior to entering the business world, Ben proudly served on the Norfolk Police Department. Ben was an esteemed businessman working in sales and marketing for Fafnir Bearing Co. and Thompson Industries prior to starting his own business, Sikes Tree Consulting, Inc. in 2005.

Virginia and Ben were married August 8, 1998, and were blessed with their daughter, Angela, on August 31, 1999. Ben was an avid scuba diver and cross-country skier. Ben enjoyed sailing and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Ben was his daughter’s #1 fan and biggest supporter at her equestrian horse shows, with their family horse, Ashton. Ben prided himself as a true dog person, caring for their family pets over the years, Sophie, Tiger, Chloe, Lily, Piper, and Maggie, with a very special place in his heart for his dog, Tiger.

Ben was a caring and loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
