Obituary of Carol M. Flood

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carol M. Flood, age 98, resident of Norwalk and formerly of Huntington, Long Island, NY, died peacefully on October 20, 2022 in the company of her family.
Carol leaves her five children, Jack (his wife Barbara, nee Keane), Carol Ann (her husband Jim Keane), Madeline (her husband Kevin Brown), Edward (his wife Rebecca, nee Lucic) and Michael. She was predeceased by her husband Jack Flood 44 years ago and her two sisters, Rita Meeks and Margaret Russo.  Carol is the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Carol raised her children in Huntington Bay, NY and had worked her whole life, full-time within the Elwood school system as a Home Economics Teacher, until her retirement.  She also had homes in Vero Beach, Florida and Springfield, Virginia.
She was born on July 30, 1924, in Floral Park, NY, where she and her sisters were raised by their parents, Madeline and Phillip Stattel. Carol graduated from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY with a Bachelor of Science and then went on to Queens College at night, while raising her five children, to achieve a Master Degree in Education.
Carol was not only a loving mother and grandmother, but she so loved nature and the outdoors.  She took great pride in her gardening and she enjoyed swimming and boating with her family on Long Island Sound.  As a young girl, she loved fishing and clamming with her father -- and like her father, she was very mechanical and could handily fix anything broken.
A devout Catholic, Carol so enjoyed people and traveling with her family and friends. She will be sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched.
