Obituary of Patricia Dillon Cairney

Patricia Dillon Cairney, 81, passed away December 24, 2021.  She was born March 16, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Arthur and Frances (McCauley) Dillon.

Patricia was a graduate of St. John’s University and served her career as an office manager for White and Case law firm in Manhattan.  She was a dedicated and charitable person who volunteered much of her time to mentoring high school children, homeless shelters and crisis pregnancy centers.  She loved to paint and was an accomplished artist.  She retired to Nokomis, Florida 17 years ago from Bayside, New York.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, John; son, Peter D. Cairney and his wife Anna; daughters, Patricia Jensen and her husband Joseph; and Kathleen Navas and her husband Steven; grandchildren, Laurel, John, Grace, Joseph and his wife Alexis, Nicole, Victoria, Jamie, Devin, Erin and Brendan.  

In addition to her parents, Patricia was predeceased by her sisters Teresa K. Dillon and Frances J. Dillon; and her brother Arthur J. Dillon.

There will be a funeral mass to be held on January 6, 2022, at 10am at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 215-35 38th Avenue, Bayside, NY 11361.  

Memorial contributions may be made in Patricia’s honor to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund at www.fallenheroesfund.org which is a non-profit organization that provides care to military personnel suffering from traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress. Contributions also may be made in her name to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
