A life well lived…

Joseph D Ciampa

December 7th, 1945 - November 23rd, 2021

It is with a heavy heart we inform you of the passing of Joe Ciampa.   Joe was one of the most kind, funny and thoughtful people to ever walk the earth.   If you were lucky enough to meet him, you were drawn to him.   He so very much loved his life, his family and his friends.   He leaves behind his big loving family and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Born in Queens, NY to Joseph and Clara, Joe made his way through St Luke’s Catholic School in Whitestone, Bishop Laughlin High School in Brooklyn, The Army Reserves and Adelphi University.  His family enjoyed their summers in Shoreham, Long Island where he met the love of his life, Therese Fredricks. The two dated and were married on May 9th, 1970.

Joe attended Adelphi University in Oakdale, Long Island where he graduated with a degree in business.  At Adelphi, he was a member of Alpha Sigma Delta where he forged a friendship with his fraternity brothers and all his roommates that are still extremely close today.   Joe also excelled in music and was the front man for many bands throughout his college years playing the bass and the guitar.

After college, Joe began a career in real estate development, and with his father Joseph and three brothers formed the Ciampa Organization.   Joe became the president of the organization and by the end of his career achieved a large real estate portfolio of apartment buildings, shopping centers, warehouses and large communities of homes throughout the NYC boroughs and Long Island. Those hundreds of men and women who worked for him were dedicated and loyal to him, as he was to them. Therese and Joe considered them a part of their family.

Joe was married for 51 years and leaves behind his wonderfully loyal and dedicated wife Therese, and his big loving family of 4 children, their 4 spouses and 7 grandchildren. He also leaves behind an extremely large group of close friends and family members that he enjoyed spending time with socializing, skiing, playing golf and going to his favorite New York Jet games.  "Ciampa-fied" was the term they all got used to very quickly. He continued to make new friends and enjoyed helping people until he became ill.  Their motto, which was displayed at their home was “THERE'S ALWAYS ROOM FOR ONE MORE”. They always loved entertaining their family and friends.

RIP Joe Ciampa- We all love you very much!
