Obituary of Frank Castiglione

Frank Castiglione of Manhasset, NY, passed away at the age of 93 on Friday, October 9th, 2020. Born in Manhattan, New York, on January 2nd, 1927, Frank was the son of Italian immigrants Angelina and Pietro Castiglione. Frank grew up in the Bronx and was a proud Veteran as he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Frank was the founder and president of Jet Asphalt and he sat on the board of the Columbus Citizens Foundation for over 25 years, where he helped run the annual Columbus Day Parade in New York City. He also volunteered his time with several organizations including The Flushing Boys Club, The American Legion, and the Boy’s Town of Italy to name a few. Frank was a tremendous stickball player and was inducted into the stickball hall of fame. He was also quite the baseball player and had the pleasure of playing with several major leaguers. Frank lived for his family and friends and was a passionate fan of the New York Yankees. He enjoyed traveling, attending sporting events, playing cards, and having Sunday dinners with his family. Frank married the love of his life, Alice Durante, on September 12th, 1953 in Forrest Hills, New York. He is survived by his wife Alice, his beloved children, Linda Scaturro and Frank Castiglione and his wife, Lisa; his grandchildren, Charles, Paul, and Frank Scaturro, Christine and Frank Castiglione, and his great-granddaughter, Nova Lynn Scaturro. He will be missed beyond measure. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 13th, from 4-8pm at Fairchild and Sons Funeral Home in Manhasset, New York. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be offered at 10:15 am on Wednesday, October 14th at St. Mary’s Church located at 1300 Northern Boulevard in Manhasset, New York. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Flushing, New York with military honors. Donations may be made in Frank’s memory to JDRF. https://www.diabetesresearch.org/
