Obituary of Gabriel Antonio Santucci

Please share a memory of Gabriel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

~~

Gabriel A. Santucci was born on November 3, 1944 to the parents of Giuseppe and Genoveffa Santucci in Abruzzo, Italy. Gabriel and his brothers and sisters toiled their parents' farmland in Vestea. In his 20s, he left Italy and his parents behind and moved to Montreal to join his siblings who had already moved there. Gabriel learned to speak French during those three years in Canada and he also had a red Mustang that he loved to drive. He went to masonry school where he perfected his trade. In 1970, Gabriel relocated to NY to achieve the American dream. In that same year, he met and married the woman of his dreams - Annette Campioni.  They bought a fixer-upper home in Richmond Hill and it soon became the most beautiful house on the block.

Throughout his life, Gabriel was a loving father to his children - Chantal, Jennifer and Joseph, and later, to his grandchildren - Luca, Everett, Dario and Fiona. He also loved his daughter-in-law, Pina, and his son-in-law, Sal, as if they were his own children. Eventually, Gabriel opened his own construction corporation - G&J Brick Mason. In the mid-1980s, he and the family moved to Holliswood where they bought a remarkable home on a hill where many more beautiful memories would be made.

Gabriel devoted his life to his profession, his family and his lawn. Someone would pay dearly if his grass was ever neglected! When not working seven days a week, you could find Gabriel watching Clint Eastwood movies, Judge Judy, fishing or tinkering around the house. He was a humble man who enjoyed the simpler things in life.

Gabriel left this world on December 6, 2017 to receive his eternal reward for a life well-played. Without a doubt, he achieved the American dream and left the world - and the people who knew him - in a better place.
