Obituary of Christa Feisullin

Please share a memory of Christa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Christa Maria Feisullin, 86, of Philadelphia, PA, formerly of Queens, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 24, 2016. She was born in Germany on February 9, 1930 to Franz and Martha Koerner. She moved to the United States in 1957 with her husband, Gasis Feisullin, and daughter Sophia, to escape the spread of Communism in Eastern Europe. The family settled in a small apartment in New York City, where she worked as a secretary at Fred Braun, Kuehne & Nagel, and Panalpina until her retirement in 1992. But her greatest work was raising her four children: Sophia, Farid, Anita and Karen. Her scrapbooks are full of pictures of the family on long walks along the Hudson River, and playing on Rockaway Beach. She also enjoyed traveling, flowers, the opera, the symphony, and especially gardening. Though it was small, the yard around her home in Kew Gardens was meticulously kept. She moved to Philadelphia in 2011 to live with her daughter Karen’s family, where she continued to “oversee” the gardening. She also loved going to Rehoboth Beach, DE, with Karen. Christa’s husband passed away in 1989. Christa is survived by her children and their spouses: Sophia and Vincent Boniello of Allendale, NJ, Farid and Karen Feisullin of Overland Park, KS, Anita and David Tesher of Manhasset, NY, and Karen Feisullin and Stephen Chrzanowski of Philadelphia, PA. She also is survived by grandchildren Christina Boniello, Sarah and Luke Feisullin, Taylor and Haley Tesher, and Kate and Matthew Chrzanowski. She also is survived in Germany by a brother and his wife, Horst and Barbel Koerner, and a sister and her husband, Leni and Georg Vorhoelzer. She survived her sisters Elizabeth and Kathe. Family will receive friends at Fairchild Funeral Home, 1570 Northern Blvd, Manhasset, NY, on Monday, February 29th at 3-6pm. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 1st, 10:30 AM at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs at 111-06 Queens Blvd. Internment will follow at Roslyn Cemetery in Greenvale, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Bronx Botanical Gardens or the Philadelphia Horticultural Society.
