Obituary of Patricia J. Augenthaler

Patricia Jean Augenthaler (née Moritz), died peacefully at home surrounded by her children, on November 8, 2015, at the age of 86. Born in 1929, Pat was the eldest of three children of Ethel and William Moritz. Raised in Manhasset, Pat met and married Robert C. Augenthaler, also of Manhasset, in 1948 and settled in Port Washington. They were blessed with six children and much of her life revolved around them. They were happily married for 29 years. Pat was a loving wife and mother who always had a smile on her face and a warm and welcoming spirit. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. In addition to being involved with St. Peter of Alcantara School and Parish as well as co- coordinator of junior volunteers at St. Francis Hospital, Pat was also the office manager for over twenty years for Dr. John Brennan of Manhasset. Pat is survived by her children and their families: Cathy and Ray Manganelli of Glen Head, Doug and Nancy Augenthaler of Glen Head, Sue and Bill O’Brien of Fairfield, CT, Kristine and Brian Stoker of Pound Ridge, NY, and Mary Pat and Lou Garate of Fairfield, CT. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Debra Augenthaler, and by her very special friend Russ Romond. She was predeceased by her husband Bob, her son Jim, and her granddaughter Katie O’Brien. Pat was the proud grandmother of Tom and Chris Manganelli, Bob and Kathleen Augenthaler, Lindsay and Kristin Augenthaler, Jim and Patrick O’Brien, TJ, Katharine, and Chip Stoker, and Anna and Lily Garate. A mass celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, November 12 at 9:30AM at St.Peter of Alcantara Church, 1327 Port Washington Blvd., Port Washington, New York. Interment will follow at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, 111 Old Country Rd., Westbury, New York. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 7-9 PM at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home, Manhasset, New York.
