Obituary of Patricia E. Newman

Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patricia Beth Newman, of Jericho, NY, passed away August 27, 2015. In 1963, siblings Kathleen and James welcomed their baby sister into the world. Growing up in Larchmont, NY, Patricia Clifford attended Saint Gabriel’s High School. Patricia loved to travel the world, and it was on one such trip to the Caribbean that she met her husband, Bruce Newman. Bruce and Patti were married in 1990 at Roslyn Country Club. In 1992 the Newmans became parents for the first time to Matthew, who was joined by twins Ashley and Justin two years later. Patricia’s three children were the joy of her life, and she loved to welcome their friends into her home as her own. Patricia was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer in January 2010, and since then she has lived every single day to the fullest. Patricia made a point of being there for her family at every graduation, every birthday party, and every event, big or small. Not only did she continue to give of herself to others, even as she was fighting a difficult battle with cancer, Patricia continued to set new goals for herself all the time. In 2012 Patricia traveled to Italy not once, but twice, and in the fall of 2013 Patricia, her daughter Ashley and her sister Kathie took a girls trip to Nashville, where they listened to country music and danced the nights away in cowboy boots. In May 2014, Patricia completed her [600 hour] Hot Yoga Certification in Atlanta, Georgia, and came home to found the Kids Yoga Program at Hot Yoga Carle Place. In April, Patricia celebrated her 52nd birthday with her family, her siblings and their families with a painting and wine party full of laughs. Patricia had an impeccable eye and a sense of style admired by all, and her outer beauty paled only in comparison to her inner radiance, which affected everyone she met. Patricia loved spending time in the sun, especially on the beaches of Long Island and Florida, or in the backyard with her two dogs, Chloe and Mel. Most of all, Patricia loved to laugh with the family and friends she so adored. Patricia and Ashley shared everything; they were each other’s best friends. Justin made his mother burst with pride on a daily basis, not least of when she attended his graduation from the University of Delaware this past May. The only person who could make Patricia smile bigger and laugh harder than Bruce was Matthew. Patricia’s indomitable spirit is carried on by her husband, her three adoring children, her sister and brother-in-law, her brother and sister-in-law, her nieces and nephews (to whom Patricia was always the cool aunt) and her wonderful group of friends from around the world.
