Obituary of James E. Farley

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James Farley, 83, of Douglaston, NY, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital on August 22, 2014, following a brief but heroic battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends in his last days. Jim was born in New York City on September 18, 1930 to James and Marion Farley. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Robert Fiacco; sons and daughter-in-law, James, Thomas, Michael and Jennifer Farley; grandchildren, Kristin Fiacco, Thomas, Chelsea and Jonathon Farley; loving companion Marylee Tepedino; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Barbara Farley. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Armed Forces, and in addition to owning and operating a very successful automotive dealership, G/C Volkswagen of New Hyde Park, NY for three decades, he was past president of both the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association and the New York State Automobile Dealers Association (NYSADA). He was an avid golfer and long-time member of Sands Point Golf Club. He was a devout Catholic and member of St. Anastasia Church. Jim was a mentor to many, always willing to share his time, talent and wisdom, and he gave generously to causes he cared deeply about. He was an enthusiastic fan of the New York Giants and New York Mets. Jim loved to laugh, joke and smile (when not commiserating about the Giants); something that was always infectious to his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Wounded Warriors Project, 370 7th Avenue, Suite 1802, New York, NY 10001.
