Obituary of John Joseph Lysaght

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John J. Lysaght, Jr., 52, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones in Manhasset, New York on Thursday, August 28, 2014. John was born to Joan Curran and the late John J. (“Jack”) Lysaght on May 7, 1962 in Brooklyn, NY. An intellect from an early age, John received his undergraduate degree in accountingfrom Boston College and his MBA from Northwestern University’s prestigious Kellogg School of Business. It was during this time that John met his lifelong partner, Ricardo Bermudez, with whom he moved to the Cayman Islands in 1993. After a successful career as a CPA in the Caymans, and years of acting as the perfect host to frequent guests, John decided to realize a dream of owning a bed and breakfast and moved to Louisville, Kentucky with Ricardo. Together they purchased and operated the beautiful 1888 Historic Rocking Horse Manor Bed and Breakfast, touching the lives of every guest that stayed with them. Gregarious, gracious, and warm, John always made everyone around him feel cared for and comfortable. Ever the altruist, John’s thoughtfulness was evident in all of his actions, from the exceptional meals he prepared for his family and guests to the selfless way in which he would anticipate and fulfill the needs of those around him. A loving friend, son, and brother, John is survived by his partner Ricardo Bermudez, his mother Joan Lysaght, and his five siblings: Joan Mattison, Susan Lysaght, Thomas Lysaght, Carole Lysaght-Moodhe, and Judy Lysaght-Marikos. John’s loved ones are comforted knowing that his big blue eyes will be watching over them.
