Obituary of Richard Reilly

Bayside, NY – Mr. Richard Reilly of Bayside, NY and East Hampton, NY died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, May 19, 2012. He was 58 years old. Richard was born on September 5, 1953 in Washington Heights, NY, the fourth of seven children of the late John F. and Margaret E. (Higgins) Reilly. He spent his latter youth in Queens Village graduating from Archbishop Molloy High School in 1971. Richard also graduated from State University of New York at Oswego in 1975 earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Richard’s career included 15+ years at North Shore LIJ Health System attaining the position of Deputy Executive Director of Administration. Rich was highly regarded and respected by his peers and co-workers. Richard was proud of the fact that North Shore-LIJ at Syosset Hospital repeatedly earned the highest ratings from JD Powers and Associates regarding quality of care, professionalism of staff and cleanliness of the facilities. Rich had a passion for life, and his family was most important to him. He met the love of his life, Gail in 2000 and they married in 2007. He was especially proud to be a grandfather to young Christopher, whom he cherished. He also loved the sea and spent much of his free time sailing and working on his boat. He enjoyed spending time at his home in East Hampton with Gail and their cat Rusty. Richard had a passion for music as well. He was proud of his extensive collection which included all genres of music. His knowledge of performers and music history was unmatched. In addition to his wife, Gail, Richard leaves his stepdaughter, Nicole Uva and her husband Donald of Norwalk, Connecticut, his sister, Patricia Reilly of Newton, Massachusetts, his brothers Charles J. Reilly of St David’s, PA and his wife, Maureen, Thomas M. Reilly of Spring Lake, NJ and his wife Valquiria, and James Reilly and his wife Catherine, of Hampton, NH, his grandson Christopher Uva, nephews Daniel, Christopher, John, and Sean Reilly, nieces Laurel Keyes, Kristen Fitzmaurice, Marguerite, Kathleen, Jacqueline and Jennifer Reilly. Richard was predeceased by his parents in 2003. His sister Arlene died in 1995 and his brother John passed away in 2006. Richard was also predeceased by his nephew James Fitzmaurice in 2009. We will update the site with the charitable foundation for donations in lieu of flowers
