Petras Matekunas Born in 1910, grew up in Lithuania. Graduated from Vytautas Didysis University in Kaunas with a Masters Degree in Economics. He married Aleksandra Paprockaite and had a daughter, Virgilija. After the Soviet occupation of Lithuania the family escaped to Austria where they stayed in a Displaced Peoples Camp. In 1949 they arrived in the United States and lived here until the present. His passion was writing , music and he wrote a book about his stay in the DP Camp in Austria and numerous articles about Lithuania. He also composed Children's songs, symphonies and short pieces about forests, lakes and rivers of Lithuania. His wife Aleksandra passed away in 2015 and he leaves behind his daughter Virgilija, son in law : Evaldas Remeza, 2 grand children: Dainius and Arvidas, daughter in law Ashley Remeza and his sister Ona Gradinskas.
