Obituary of Elsa Maria Welti

Elsa Maria Welti of Nesconset, N.Y. passed away peacefully on December 24th, 2021.  Elsa was born in Appenzell, Switzerland in August of 1930 and she spent her childhood and early adult life in Winterthur, Switzerland.  She met her husband, Antoine Welti, while working in Zurich and they were married in October of 1958.  Soon after, they moved to the United States where they stayed to build a life and raise a family.  Elsa and Antoine remained married for almost 45 years until he predeceased her in July of 2003.  Elsa loved to ski, hike and travel and also thoroughly enjoyed the cultural offerings of New York City. Throughout her life, she maintained a youthful, independent and optimistic spirit and her kindness, warmth and generosity brought happiness and inspiration to those around her.  Perhaps her greatest pleasure was her deep devotion to her family and friends.  Elsa is survived by her two children, Michael Welti (Andrea Welti) and Claudine Welti (Christopher Nesterczuk); and her four grandchildren, Julia and Griffin Welti and Maddox and Logan Nesterczuk.  She is also survived by her sister Mina Stolz and a large and loving extended family in Switzerland and Germany.
