Obituary of Matthew A. Falcone

Please share a memory of Matthew to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Matthew, Matty to most, distinguished Civic leader and Electrical Engineer, was loved by many for his selfless giving, fun spirit and devotion to his family and friends. Matthew suddenly went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2020, of complications from the Coronavirus. He was “Family- first” focused and a protector. Matty took great joy in the pleasures of life: his family, friends, dinners, travelling, volunteering, and love for the United States of America. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Matty graduated from Manual Training High School and The City College of New York. With 65 years in the electrical industry, Matty retired as Superintendent for Forest Electrical Corporation. He loved supporting some of the biggest names in real estate electrically, on behalf of Forest. Some of his favorites were The World Trade Center, The Pan Am Building, 5th Avenue luxury stores and the New York airports. The “Matty Stories and Jokes” are endless. The same qualities that made Matty’s skill as a businessman, deeply enriched his relationship as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend. His thoughtfulness, careful listening, generosity of time, fun-loving spirit, and straightforward way of talking earned admiration, appreciation, and most importantly the trust of others. He held leadership positions and donated time and talents to organizations including; the Church of Saint Mary, Manhasset Community Club, Inc., IBEW Local #3, Knights of Columbus, The United States Marines Corps, The American Legion post 304, The Manhasset Public Library, The Kiwanis Club, and North Hempstead Country Club. He was predeceased by his parents Salvatore and Julia Falcone and his wife of almost 50 years, Grace A. Falcone, sister, Theresa Ferrara, bother, Nicholas Falcone, and nephews Nicholas Falcone Jr. and Salvatore Meloro, all from Brooklyn, New York. He is lovingly survived by: his Daughter Denise, Granddaughter Lauren, Son in Law Vincent R. Cestone, sister Josephine Meloro, brother’s in Law Lawrence Meloro, Nicholas Creatore, Sister-In-Law, Mary Lou Creatore, Nephews/Nieces: Nicholas Jr., Shay, Nicholas Jr., Suzanne, Lawrence, Lisa, Judy and Kevin. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on October 5th, 2020 at Saint Mary’s Church, Manhasset, N.Y., followed by internment at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Gardens, Farmingdale, N.Y. He will be missed by so many. (In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the www.SemperFiFund.Org
