Pamela Bartlett Burke
Pamela Burke of Vineyard Haven, MA passed away peacefully on August 4, 2020 surrounded by her family. Pamela was the youngest daughter of Duane Goodland and Louise Kurth Bartlett, and was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 23, 1928. She is survived by her son Andrew Burke and his wife Dana of Upton, MA, sister Marilyn Bartlett of Fresh Meadows, NY, 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son Matthew Burke and sister Barbara McCracken.
Pamela was a graduate of the University of Maryland, and held a number of jobs in the New York area where she raised her family. She also volunteered her time, working annually at the polling site during elections, as well as teaching Sunday school. She enjoyed working in her yard and going to the beaches on Long Island. Pamela was also a pet lover, taking in several dogs and cats during her years in Manhasset. In 1996, she fulfilled her dream of retiring to Martha’s Vineyard, MA, leaving the house and neighborhood in Manhasset, NY that she loved, to do so. While on Martha’s Vineyard, she continued to volunteer her time, working at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. She enjoyed hiking the many trails that the Island has to offer, as well continuing to go to the many beautiful beaches.
Visitation hours are 2:00-5:00 PM on Sunday August 9 at Fairchild Sons Funeral Chapel, 1570 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, New York 11030. A private burial will be on Monday August 10. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Pamela’s name.
