Doris Asaro-Wolpert, 90, of Port Washington, New York, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2020. Born in Manhattan, New York to the late Jerome and Marion Rothschild. Doris grew up in New York City and Woodmere, NY and raised her family in Roslyn, NY. Doris was a graduate of Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts. Her love of travel led to her career as a travel agent. She visited every continent in the world except Antarctica. She spent several years in retail working at the former department store B. Altman’s & Co. She loved to read books and worked many years at the circulation desk of the Roslyn Library. She also volunteered her time at many organizations over the years including schools, St. Francis Hospital, and St. Mary’s Church in Manhasset. Doris loved family and enjoyed spending time with them. Doris is survived by her devoted husband of 17 years, Richard Wolpert; her son Michael (Ann) Asaro of Port Washington; her son Lawrence (Christina) Asaro of New York City; her son Vincent (Christine) Asaro of Trumbull, CT; and her six grandchildren, Michaela and Samantha Asaro of Port Washington, Andrew and Christian Asaro of New York City,and Blake and Brenna Asaro of Trumbull, CT. Doris was predeceased by her late husband of 25 years, Louis Asaro and her sister Marjorie C. Sagman. Services will be private at this time and a memorial service to celebrate Doris’ life will be announced on a later date. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Amsterdam Tuttle Center in Port Washington for the kindness and care they extended to Doris. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society or Parkinson Foundation or the Food Pantry at St. Peter of Alcantara of Port Washington.
