Obituary of Robert G. Trunz

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert G. Trunz (Bob)went home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2018. He is survived by his beautiful, loving wife of almost (Sept. 7) 62 years Gail (vonRoeschlaub) Trunz, his 5 children, Robert Jr.(Anne), Gregory (Jean), Christina, Warren (Wendy) and Paul. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Bobby (Tiffany), Ryan (Laura), Kayla, Gregory Jr., Max, Kevin, Katy, Samantha, Warren Jr.(Kathy), and Grace. His granddaughter Allison predeceased him in 1997. He has 4 great grandchildren, Samaya, Jai, Sosi and Penelope. He was born the son of Charles (dec.1984) and Dorothy Trunz (dec.1980) and was a wonderful brother to Dorothy Buchanan (dec. 1975) and Charles Trunz, Jr. (dec. 1988), as well as a devoted uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Bob attended NewYork Military Academy and graduated as a Captain. He served in the National Guard. His long career was with his family business, Trunz Food Stores. He started as a butcher and grew into his position as President, along with his brother Charles, Jr. Most of their stores were in Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island and Long Island. He loved golfing with friends and family, and became a member and past President of Sands Point Golf Club in Sands Point, New York. Bob and Gail’s tremendous faith brought them to become members of Shelter Rock Church where together they were choir members, and served so many in the community. Bob also lead the Benevolent Care Team which provided financial help to those in need. Throughout their marriage, they partnered in marriage ministry, and were a huge part of “Marriage Encounter” in their younger years, impacting so many lives to this day. Bob’s heart was as big as his personality. Everyone knew him, and they continue to tell stories of his kindness and generosity. He had a special relationship with each and every one of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and so many precious friends…everyone who was blessed to know and be loved by him. He was the most gentile, kindest soul. He was someone to aspire to be in life. To love him and be loved by him was one of the most treasured gifts in life. He leaves a legacy beyond words.
