Obituary of Yuen-Sheng Chiang

Please share a memory of Yuen-Sheng to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Yuen-Sheng (“YS”) Chiang passed away on April 16, 2018.  He will be so deeply missed by his wife Marie Fang, sons Edmund (Liz) and Christopher, brothers Kwen-Sheng (Dai-Hwa) and Chih-Sheng (Grace), and grandsons Samuel and Nathan.

Before spending the last 20+ years of his business career with Jeanne Pierre Originals, an apparel company where he served as Chief Financial Officer, YS had a 19 year career as a senior scientist at multiple corporations including Xerox and RCA, where he authored multiple patents and won multiple awards.

Born in Tsingtao, China in 1936, he emigrated to Taiwan where he entered National Taiwan University at the age of 16.  He went on to earn a Master of Chemical Engineering at the University of Louisville and then a PhD at Princeton University in 1964.  Later, while still working at RCA, he decided to study at night in his spare time, commuting three times a week for three years while achieving the highest honors of all MBA students at Rutgers University in 1979.

Yet, YS was known best for his infectious sense of humor—with a quick joke, a sly smile, and a corny punchline followed by a raucous guffaw.  His passions for hobbies resulted in a basement full of half-fixed household appliances and a playspace converted into a mad scientist’s greenhouse laboratory…He loved his wines, his food and great company.  Later, even after his health failed him, his attitude did not--he still always had a warm, wide smile for so many dear friends and close family who came to visit.

A funeral service will be celebrated in memory of YS on Saturday, April 28th, at 9:30 a.m., at Fairchild Sons, Inc., 1570 Northern Boulevard,
Manhasset, NY  11030.  Interment at Nassau Knolls Cemetery and Memorial Park, 500 Port Washington Boulevard, Port Washington, NY 11050.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made in tribute to YS Chiang to St. Francis Hospital, 100 Port Washington Boulevard, Roslyn, NY  11576
