Susan M. Power, of Port Washington, New York, passed away on Wednesday, March 14th.
Susan was born in Mineola, New York. She grew up in Great Neck, New York- where she lived most of her life. She attended Great Neck South High School and graduated in 1964. Her Son, James, was born in 1966. Over the years, Susan became and insurance broker spending many years with Frankel & Co in NYC, where she met many of her lifelong friends. Susan’s granddaughter, Julia, was born in 1996 and became her pride and joy.
On September 11, 2001, Susan was at work in the south tower of the World Trade Center. Her family waited for hours before they heard that she had made it out before the tower had collapsed.
Susan was everyone’s friend, and was beloved by many. Her favorite times were those spent in Provincetown, MA, and at her current home at Toms Point, where she had met many of her best friends. She loved to travel and see the world, and enjoyed spending time with those closest to her.
Susan will be missed for her radiant smile, her infectious laugh, her love for all, and for her kindness and generosity. She would want us to celebrate her life and not mourn her loss. We are all blessed that we will be able to hold her close to our hearts through the memories that she left us.
Susan loved flowers just as much as she loved animals. If you wish to honor her life, we ask that you consider a donation to the North Shore Animal League in her name. Donations can be made at https://secure3.convio.net/nsala/site/Donation2?df_id=1600&1600.donation=form1&_ga=2. Please make the donation in memory of Susan Power.
