Obituary of Dr. Daniel J. Paulo

Daniel J. Paulo, M.D. dies at 82 A native Staten Islander, Dr. Daniel J. Paulo was in private practice since 1965. He attended New Dorp High School, St. Francis College in Brooklyn and the University of Bologna Medical School in Italy. Dr. Paulo served as the President of the medical staff at the Richmond University Medical Center. He was a board-certified internist with a subspecialty in gastroenterology. He was a member of the Richmond County Medical Society, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Medical Association. In addition, he was a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. He was an attending physician at the former St. Vincent’s Hospital since 1965 and also attending physician at Carmel Richmond Nursing Home. Dr. Paulo was a Clinical Assistant Professor in Medicine at New York Medical College and served on the Board of Directors of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation under Mayors John Lindsay, Abraham Beame and Ed Koch. Known as a kind, sensitive and gentle man, he was a tireless worker, much beloved by his patients. Medicine was his passion as was his family. A nephew of the late Judge Frank D. Paulo, he is survived by his beloved wife Lynda, his children Lisa, Daniel, Jr. , Allison and his dear sister Marguerite Paulo-Heyer.
